The Handsworth Times

Even if I hadn’t subscribed to the latest @mothboxbooks, I think I would still have purchased The Handsworth Times by Sharon Duggal for the cover alone.  A tale set in the 1980’s, it deals with the dynamics of a family in the aftermath of a tragedy.

Trio

Be warned!  If reading this book in a public place, please make sure you have an ample supply of tissues.  This book is so sad!  I’m about two thirds through and have seriously blubbed twice whilst reading it.  It centres around a man who loses his wife and him coming to terms with his grief by forming new friendships.  This was part of the new Mothbox  – a subscription book service, that I’ve recently received and highly recommend.
